Useful links
- RUSSIA
ON THE NET This is a massive site with extremely broad coverage.
There are sections on Arts and Culture, Business, News and Media, Entertainment
and Recreation, Science and Education, and Government and Legislation.
A recommended starting point for searching on any subject.
- REECA
WEB: Russian, East European, and Central Asian Collection, University
of Wisconsin - Madison libraries This excellent site offers access
to a large number of full-text newspapers, magazines, journals, newswires
and broadcast sites. However, not all are up to date or available in
English.
- Russian
Studies On The Web A privately maintained, but still very useful
source of information on Slavic departments 'around the world'. In fact
heavily weighted towards the US.
- The
Bucknell Russian Program There
is an enormous amount of information here - Russian on-line dictionaries
(including Mueller and Ozhegov), abstracts from Russian Linguistics
and Journal of Slavic Linguistics; a Russian word form analyzer to give
you the morphological variants of nominative forms and verb conjugations;
an interactive grammar and a whole section on Cyrillic fonts. As with
the previous site, you need to be able to input Cyrillic characters
to use these resources properly.
- NIS
News Resorces
- Moscow
Media Law and Policy Centre
- Russiacompany
Collection of links to politics, economics, culture, art, telecommunications,
newspapers, online journals and government sites.
- The
Bucknell Russian Program Russian language study materials of three
sorts: an online reference grammer, dictationaries and Cyrillic fonts
and keyboards.
- MAXIMOV
Offers Russian and English language information. Subjects covered are
international news, politics, economics and markets. Open Markets Information.
- Russia
Today An international Czezh Republic-based news service catering
for the needs of expatriate and business communities. This is only an
English language site, but the coverage is wide.
- St.
Petersburg Times A very comprehensive, full-text, up-to-date service.
This site is good for political and economics news briefs and for more
detailed cultural information. English language only.
- Garant
Park 26 business, economics and finance journals and newspapers
are available here - mostly at a price, eg Ekspert, Finansist, Offshore
Express, Finansovaya Gazeta, FG (regional'nyi vypusk), Den'gi. Some
are supposed to be free, but I didn't find any. The procedure for discovering
prices and for registering is irritatingly unclear and cumbersome.
- Russian
Space Research Institute
For those who are interested in the fate of the Russian space programme
post-glasnost. The Who's Who section contains research interests and
e-mail addresses for staff. An English language site.
- TACIS
Particularly good information is to be had from the 'regional variations
in living standards' page. In fact there is a lot on the regions generally
at this location.
- Tambov
University
Another good regional site. There is some good quality English language
material here, but the information available in Russian is better, with
good access to other 'vuzovskie servery Rossii' and email addresses
for university staff.
- Informika
This is a comprehensive site, mainly of higher education sources. The
Ministry of Education for the Russian Federation home page is particularly
detailed, offering lists of higher education institutions and email
addresses of those working in them. Official publications can also be
found here.
