JEA Annual Conference

The Journalism Education Association (JEA) conference will be held jointly with the Journalism Educators Association of New Zealand (JEANZ), with the support of AUT University’s School of Communication Studies, in Auckland, New Zealand from December 4-7, 2006.

The 2006 theme is “Journalism Downunder: the future of the media in the digital age”, and the conference will feature keynote addresses, research paper presentations and panel discussions relating to the theme, as well as other topics.

The conference programme also includes the annual general meetings of both associations, a cocktail party, a conference dinner and the Ossie Awards. There will be an optional half-day tour of vineyards on Waiheke Island on the Sunday and on the final day, Thursday, if people are interested, morning tours of some of the local media will be arranged.

This year's conference is at the Carlton Hotel in central Auckland, which is only a few minutes walk to the central shopping precinct, theatres, art galleries, cafés and restaurants.
